Temporary Closure to Memorial Park Playground
South Burnett Regional Council advises that due to vandalism, the Kingaroy Memorial Park’s playground has been closed until further notice.
Multiple fires over several nights, caused extensive damage to several pieces of playground equipment, a shade sail and the soft fall, and has an estimated repair cost of $250,000.
Malicious burning and destruction of property is not the behaviour we accept in our community. Ratepayers are too often picking up the tab for reckless damage caused by others. The whole playground area has been closed until equipment can be fixed or replaced.
Council thanks the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Fire Brigade for attending to the park and extinguishing the fire.
Council also thanks the community who have provided information and assistance to Police in the investigations.
