Trial Opening Hours for Memerambi Transfer Station
South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Kathy Duff is pleased to let the Memerambi locals know that for a trial period of (3) three months Council will open the Memerambi Transfer Station to the public,
for 24 hour access, seven days a week, commencing on Sunday 1 September 2024.
“There has been problems in the past with vandalism resulting in the community having reduced access during the day to three days a week. The community has been asking why and wanting it changed” Mayor Duff said.
“We are really keen to work with the community on all of our transfer stations, but it is becoming increasingly difficult because people don’t always do the right thing”, said Mayor Duff.
Generally across our transfer stations there are designated areas that are signed, for green waste, metals and for general waste. Each tip is signed to what it can accept. Cameras are installed to deter people from doing the wrong thing. It only takes one person to spoil it for everyone.
Mayor Duff is urging residents to use this trial to ensure that the transfer station can remain open and accessible to the public 24/7 by keeping it tidy and looking after the facility.
