Bunya Avenue, Bunya Mountains upgrades to commence - pedestrian delineation, new concrete footpath and new sealed parking area

Back

Council is pleased to advise that works will soon commence on Bunya Avenue, Bunya Mountains to reinstate the pedestrian access along Bunya Avenue and to upgrade the current grass footpath and carpark.

Works, funded through Council’s 2020-21 Capital Programme and the Australian Government Drought Communities Programme (DCP), are planned to commence the week beginning 26 October 2020 and are expected to be completed late November 2020, subject to weather and other external constraints.

The project will include upgrading and delineation of the existing on road pedestrian path through the use of green sprayed line marking from Bunya Mountains Road to the entry of Dandabah camping area. A new concrete footpath will be then installed from this entry point to the existing driveway near the Bunya Mountains General Store. The project works will also include the upgrade and installation of a new sealed parking area.

In order to provide a safe working environment for Council staff and users, the works will be controlled by signage or traffic controllers as required. Motorists are requested to travel with extreme care, to drive to the prevailing road conditions and to adhere to signage.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks businesses and the community for their patience whilst works are in progress.
