Wondai Road, Proston is officially Santa Clause Lane…
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, coming down Santa Claus Lane… or in this case, Wondai Road, Proston!
In preparation for the festive season and as an incentive for neighbours to work together to demonstrate their Christmas spirit, South Burnett residents were urged to band together and light up their homes for Christmas!
Council received numerous entries to the CEO’s ‘Santa Claus Lane’ Christmas lights competition, vying for the title of ‘Santa Claus Lane’.
South Burnett Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Pitt said, “Santa Claus Lane aims to promote a sense of community by encouraging neighbours to work collaboratively creating light shows and this year we requested entrants to nominate why they and their neighbours should be granted the coveted title.”
Santa Claus Lane winners receive a fingerboard to display for posterity, and each year’s signpost is marked with the year.
“We want to foster a community spirit in the South Burnett, and this is one small simple way of getting people talking and working together,” Mr Pitt said.
Mr Pitt said, “A big congratulations to all the families on Wondai Road, Proston for submitting entries into the competition. Their combined displays best embodied Christmas and cooperation and will receive a ‘Santa Claus Lane’ street sign to display on their street permanently!”
“The ‘Santa Claus Lane’ street sign is a perpetual award, with this being the second year. We hope to continue each Christmas season to recognize the winning street’s participation in the Christmas Lights display.”
“Congratulations must also go to residents at Pring Street and Amaroo Drive, Wondai, Muir Drive, Nanango and Carroll Street, Kingaroy as highly commended,” Mr Pitt said.
“I encourage residents to view the Christmas Lights map on Council’s website and take a family trip to view the displays over the Christmas period.”
