Explore virtual reality at the Kingaroy VIC
What are you doing during the school holidays? Why not explore the Bunya Mountains in 360 degrees... Feed a wallaby, walk amongst the trails, and soar above the Bunya trees all at the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre (VIC).
The new display is a part of the South Burnett Visitor Information Centre’s Virtual Reality Installation (VRI) – funded jointly by the Queensland Government, Department of Innovation & Tourism Industry Development. At the Kingaroy Information Centre visitors can explore the South Burnett region via a virtual reality (VR) headset that transports the viewer on an incredible hero experience.
The 360 video produced for the VRI aims to showcase hero experiences from every corner of the South Burnett region. Funding for the project included a professionally filmed movie shot in region, installation of the virtual reality headsets, complete with all of the technical equipment as well as a 360 degree camera to allow the South Burnett Visitor Information Centres to create extra content.
Viewing the 360 videos through a VR headset literally places the viewer in the scene, allowing them to explore and experience new destinations, and is aimed.
The VRI aims to extend the length of stay in the region for visitors, with the hope that the visitor might book experiences after seeing it through the virtual reality headset.
This exciting, interactive display will be showcased around the region at each of Council’s Visitor Information Centres in 2021… keep an eye out for a 360 degree experience near you!
