Big Peanut construction has commenced at Lions Park Kingaroy
South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to announce construction commenced on the Big Peanut monument located in Lions Park Kingaroy on Tuesday 25 May 2021.
Completion of this project is anticipated for Wednesday 30 June 2021.
The Big Peanut monument is in recognition of the local peanut industry and its history throughout Kingaroy and the South Burnett region.
Works will be undertaken in the following stages to minimise inconvenience to the public during the construction period:
- Construction of the plinth for the Big Peanut monument
- Construction of new pathways
- Removal of existing shelters to be replaced with new shelters
- New signage
This project is funded through Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland programme.
This is a collaboration between Council and the ‘Kingaroy Needs a Peanut’ committee. Council acknowledges the ‘Kingaroy Needs a Peanut’ committee for their valued contribution in commissioning the artist, delivery and installation of the Big Peanut monument.
This project is in conjunction with the 2021-26 Corporate Plan in enhancing community culture through the support of initiatives and the provision of community facilities.
