Mayor's Community Christmas Luncheon tickets now on sale
The Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon will be bringing much needed to cheer to the South Burnett on Tuesday 30 November 2021 at Kingaroy Town Hall,
with tickets now on sale for $25 at all Council Customer Service Centres. This is an important fundraiser for South Burnett, with all proceeds supporting local families in need this Christmas.
Mayor Brett Otto encourages all South Burnett locals to purchase a ticket and join in on a festive feast for a good cause.
“This luncheon is an opportunity for us to come together, share a wonderful meal, think about how privileged we are to live in this beautiful region, and pay it forward to those in our community who may be doing it tough”, said Mayor Otto.
“Christmas is a time for hope and a time for giving, so please purchase a ticket to the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon so we can make it an extra special Christmas for everyone in our region,” the Mayor said.
Council is pleased to announce this year’s Luncheon will welcome Taliqua Clancy as guest speaker. Taliqua Clancy is a proud Wulli Wulli and Goreng Goreng woman from Kingaroy. She is the first Indigenous Australian volleyball player to represent Australia in beach volleyball at the Olympics.
Taliqua is heavily involved in the promotion of sport involvement to Indigenous students across the country, encouraging them to see the significance of education, opportunity in sport and the importance of their culture. She has worked in communities across Australia, seeing it as her chance to give back in the same way that she was afforded the opportunity to pursue her Olympic dreams.
The Mayor’s Community Charity Luncheon will also welcome entertainment from Julee-Anne Bell, as well as a raffle with a variety of prizes generously donated by local South Burnett businesses.
