LDMG stands down following latest flood and weather updates

Back

The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) met this morning Friday 3 December 2021 to review the latest flood impacts on the region and made the decision to stand down

following reports of receding flood water and severe weather warnings subsiding overnight.

As the water levels reduce across the region, Council requests that the community be patient to allow inspectors the opportunity to review the roads and bridges and to ensure public safety when travelling on this infrastructure.

Sunwater have also advised that waters flowing into Boondooma Dam may cause the spillway to discharge water due to observed rain in the catchment yesterday.

Council will be monitoring the situation and are still working hard to maintain public safety on all impacted parts of the region.

The public are still encouraged to report weather and road impacts to Council’s Infrastructure team on 4189 9100.

Keep up to date with all road closures, weather warnings, flood warnings and emergency news on the South Burnett Disaster Dashboard http://dashboard.southburnett.qld.gov.au/.

Residents are advised to drive to the prevailing road conditions, adhere to signage and do not drive or walk through floodwater. Residents should not expect to see warnings signs for every crossing due to the widespread impact of rainfall.

In a life threatening emergency call Triple Zero 000 and for assistance with damage to property call 132 500 for State Emergency Services (SES).
