The Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon has raised $4482 to help give a special Christmas to South Burnett families needing extra support this time of year.

The event was held on Tuesday 30 November 2021 in Kingaroy Town Hall, welcoming some Christmas spirit to the region with lunch supplied by Peries IGA Kingaroy and prepared by the QCWA Kingaroy, musical entertainment from Julee-Anne Bell, wise words from Australian Olympian Matthew Denny and a raffle with prizes including two nights at Bethany Cottages and a Christmas tree from Chrissy Tress 4 U, among many other excellent prizes donated generously by local South Burnett businesses.

Mayor Brett Otto expressed his gratitude for the support the locals of South Burnett provided to this important annual event.

“Christmas can be a tough time for some of our locals, and the South Burnett truly showed their community spirit by coming to the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon to help bring extra joy to those families needing it the most”, said Mayor Otto.

“These events are annual for a reason, with the importance of Council giving back and taking care of our local community. The councillors and I are grateful for the contribution given at this year’s Christmas fundraiser and encourage the community to get involved when we host this event again in 2022,” the Mayor said.

Following the Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon, Mayor Brett Otto will choose a range of different local South Burnett community groups to allocate the proceeds of $4482.00 raised at the event.

The donations will be provided to these local community organisations as gift vouchers from Peries IGA Kingaroy located on Avoca Street, Kingaroy.

The Mayor’s Community Christmas Luncheon 2021 was proudly supported by Cox Plumbing, South Burnett Online, Hunter Gatherer Trader, Muffin Break Kingaroy, Missulli, Kingsley Grove Estate, Big W Kingaroy, Bega Cheese Limited, Simply Lush Hair and Beauty, Supa IGA Kingaroy, Crow FM, Burnett Today, Plenty Foods, Nichols Printing, Queensland Country Women’s Association Kingaroy Branch, Discount Drug Stores Kingaroy, Deb Frecklington MP and Swickers.
