South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) update #2 on COVID-19

The Chair and representatives of the South Burnett Regional Council Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) met again today with members of the Cherbourg LDMG and the District Disaster Group.

Chair of the LDMG Cr Roz Frohloff said today “We have been informed today of a number of positive cases spread across the region including Cherbourg, Murgon, Kingaroy and Nanango.   It is expected that the number of positive cases will continue to rise over the coming period, and I urge the community to be prepared.”

 “It is our understanding that all cases are being monitored by Queensland Health and in appropriate isolation as required.  The LDMG is unaware of individual cases or contact tracing as is undertaken by Queensland Health.”

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Loss of smell and/or taste

Other symptoms people may experience include muscle or joint pain, and loss of appetite.

Everyone who gets COVID-19 will experience it a little differently.

People who have extreme symptoms or side effects from the virus may take weeks or months to recover fully, while people with a mild illness may feel completely better within a week or two.
