Resignation – Cr Roz Frohloff

Back

Councillor Roz Frohloff has resigned from South Burnett Regional Council at the March Ordinary meeting effective as of close of business 23 March 2022.

Roz joined Council at the March 2016 Council election as a Councillor for Division 1 and was re-elected unopposed at the 2020 Local Government Elections. She has been actively involved in many projects including her portfolio areas or water, wastewater and waste management as well as being heavily involved in Council’s Local Disaster Management Committee, becoming chair of this Committee in 2020.

Councillors have today paid tribute to Roz at the conclusion of the Ordinary meeting and wished her well for the future.

Mayor Brett Otto said: "I want to thank Roz for her time serving her Division and the community and for her contribution during her time as a Councillor," he said. “I wish her and her family all the best for the future."

The resignation creates a vacancy for Division 1 and in accordance with the Local Government Act, these temporary vacancies are to be filled in eight weeks. Council will work closely with the Electoral Commission of Queensland to progress a by-election for Division 1 to fill the vacancy.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Pitt said that interim arrangements will be made to cover the short-term vacancy for Division 1.  In respect to Councillor Frohloff, he noted:

“Roz was an extremely hard-working Councillor and will leave large shoes to fill.   Her portfolio area knowledge and understanding of community issues was immense and she will be missed by our Council.”
