Murgon Recovery Breakfast Attracts Large Donors

Back

The flood recovery fundraising breakfast at Murgon raised significant funds for the rural charity BlazeAid on Thursday.

The breakfast is one of a series held throughout the region sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council.

CEO Mark Pitt, who officiated at the barbecue, expressed warm appreciation to Bendigo Bank for their $10,000 donation to help farmers hit by recent floods with some of the funds to be spent in local businesses.

“As BlazeAid says, when farmers suffer, so does all the community around them. It is wonderful to see local businesses make such generous contributions,” said Mr Pitt.

Other notable contributions included: -

  • Jason and Amy Wicks successfully bid $600 for a donated Crinkle Cut sculpture
  • Alicia’s Spa & Hair Worx and Crow’s Barbershop donated their discounted haircut earnings back to BlazeAid
  • Dr Graham McAllister and wife Sue from the Murgon Family Medical Practice donated $1,000

“Add to these the voluntary work of staff from the Council and the generosity of members of the public and local Councillors, and we have a very successful outcome from the breakfast,” said CEO Mark Pitt.
