SOUTH BURNETT WOMEN’S BURSARY CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Back

Applications for the 2022 South Burnett Mayor Bursary valued at $1,000 are now open and close on Monday 23 May 2022.

The National Council of Women Queensland (NCWQ) Bursary Program offers a range of bursaries through sponsors like the South Burnett Mayor, to assist Queensland women with their educational expenses.

The South Burnett Mayor Bursary is open to female student residents of the South Burnett Regional Council area. This is the sixth year of sponsorship of this bursary by the South Burnett Regional Council.

The South Burnett Mayor, Brett Otto, said that the bursary recognises the additional difficulties faced by students living away from major cities, with studies often requiring time away from home and families. “The bursary, valued at $1,000, also recognises the importance of community activities in maintaining the fabric of the rural environment.”

All applicants will be advised of the selection panel’s decision after 11 July 2022. The Bursary Presentation will be held in Brisbane around the end of July.

To be eligible to apply for this bursary, applicants must meet each of the specified Eligibility Criteria and be able to address the Selection criteria. This includes being enrolled in a full-time, part-time or distance education course – either university or TAFE - to further develop skills as a primary producer, or for the benefit of residents of the local region.

Applicants must also demonstrate their contribution to their local community, for example through a sports group, school, church, service club or CWA.

“We want to hear from local women about their interests and activities and future aspirations,” said Mayor Otto.
