What’s the story?
Renowned Queensland footy icon Johnathan Thurston is coming to the South Burnett as part of the JT Academy Event, an initiative funded by the Queensland Government, Tackling Regional Adversity through Integrated Care grant program.
JT will be having a “big conversation” with high school children throughout the region designed to instil confidence, courage, and self-belief.
JT is also headlining a community event where everyone can turn up to see him and have a great night out.
There will be live music with local band Misfitz, the Rotary Club BBQ, Community Service Displays, raffles and give-aways.
The South Burnett Regional Council under the guidance of Cr Danita Potter applied for mental health funding to enable the JT Academy visit to help school children, young adults and older men.
“This is a unique opportunity for residents of the South Burnett to meet a great Queenslander in Johnathan Thurston. His life story and message of looking out for each other is so important,” said Cr Potter.
“The aim is for everyone to leave carrying a bit of JT with them.”
