Register Now for Homeless Forum
Tickets are now ‘live’ for the South Burnett Housing and Homelessness Forum to be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Friday 22 July from 9am to 3pm.
"We are all in this together" is the theme of the event which is supported and led by key agencies in the South Burnett including South Burnett CTC, South Burnett Regional Council, Q Shelter, Regional Housing Limited and the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Together they are seeking community input to find workable solutions for the South Burnett region.
One of the headline presenters is Michael Fotheringham, a national figure in research and policy concerning housing and homelessness. He currently serves on a variety of expert advisory panels including the Australian Government’s Smart Cities Reference Group, the Housing Supply Expert Panel, the Queensland Housing and Homelessness Research Alliance, The Urban Futures and Sustainable Living Expert Research Advisory Group, and the Homes for Homes Housing Advisory Group.
Cr Danita Potter called on local decisionmakers, concerned residents and businesspeople to back the forum. “This is a very worthwhile event that reflects a community driven approach to tackle homelessness.”
“The South Burnett needs short term, medium term, and long term solutions to the housing crisis on our doorstep. This forum is an opportunity for everyone to come together so we can walk away with some answers to this pressing community problem.”
Cr Kirstie Schumacher said that the South Burnett Regional Council had supported this forum from the outset. “We are determined to find a local way through the challenges facing families under housing stress.”
