South Burnett Regional Council has been successful in winning state government funding approval for three major projects.

Mayor Brett Otto has written to thank the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure, the Hon Steven Miles MP.

The Minister has approved funding under the 2022-24 LGGSP to the Council for the following projects:

  1. $138,000 towards the Waste Management and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (60% of eligible costs)
  2. $364,536.00 toward the Nanango Waste Facility weighbridge install and transfer station upgrade (60% of eligible costs); and
  3. $161,001.00 towards the Roof Replacement - Blackbutt Memorial Hall (60% of eligible costs).

It is a condition of funding that all works commence after 1 July 2022 and be completed by 30 June 2024.

“These planning and infrastructure projects will make a significant difference to the South Burnett community which would not have been possible without state government support,” said Mayor Otto.

“As the Minister has advised, the funding will create jobs for Queenslanders and increase the liveability for our community, while boosting regional economies.
