Council Debt to Reduce

South Burnett Regional Council announced at the Special Budget meeting on 8 July 2022 that there will be no additional borrowings over the next 12 months.
Council has also reviewed its forward borrowings and has placed downward pressure on borrowing levels.
Council’s long-term borrowings with the Queensland Treasury Corporation were $27.1m as at 30 June 2022 with total borrowings of $30.4m after the inclusion of current debt liabilities of $3.28m.
Total borrowings will be reduced to $27.19m over the next twelve months through loan repayments.
This is the fourth year that no borrowings have been taken up.
