Visit to Council's Public Gallery Encouraged
An opportunity to see grass roots democracy in action is being encouraged by Mayor Brett Otto.
“South Burnett residents are warmly welcomed to attend our weekly Council meetings on most Wednesdays, usually from 9am,” said Mayor Otto.
“Local government debates cover so many aspects of local life. Sometimes there’s fireworks, sometimes laughter and sometimes tears, but we are all united in trying to do our best for our communities.
“Council meetings demonstrate grass roots democracy at its best. Residents can get an eye-witness view of proceedings and meet with their Councillors and Mayor. Visitors are welcome to join us for morning tea.”
Mayor Otto admitted, “We don’t always get it right, but if you come along, you will see how we debate and come to decisions on issues that are vital to everyday life in the South Burnett.”
Council proceedings can also be viewed from a livestream feed by visiting the Council website. Agendas and Minutes of meetings are also available there.
