Durong Fuel Cell Up & Running
Council gave planning approval in June 2020 for the development of a fuel cell at the Durong site and called for tenders for the development and operation of the new facility.
The development complements the existing truck decoupling area. Corbet’s Energy Services was the successful tenderer and developed the fuel cell which is now operational as a fully equipped station offering Diesel, ULP, & AdBlue.
Council undertook extensive investigation and designed the fuel cell in the best location for the fuel outlet. The final location was determined based on negotiations with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to meet their access requirements, long vehicle turning circles and allocated parking and a decoupling area.
Entry to the fuel cell and decoupling is off the Durong-Chinchilla Road with the exit on to Mundubbera-Durong Road. Trucks that are de-coupling are asked to angle park. Council will erect signage shortly to direct parking and access to the fuel cell.
