Blaze Aid Volunteers Finish Up in the South Burnett

Back

Council’s Local Disaster Recovery Group advises that BlazeAid has now finished up in the South Burnett after providing much needed assistance to our local community.

BlazeAid is a volunteer organisation that helps communities rebuild after natural disasters. The volunteers work alongside the rural community to clear debris and rebuild fences that have been damaged or destroyed by storms. The group commenced repair work in the north of the South Burnett and surrounding areas.

Chair of Council’s Local Disaster Recovery Group, Cr Kathy Duff, said, “BlazeAid have been in the South Burnett since January, and it is priceless what they have achieved in relation to lending a hand clearing flood debris and repairing fences, often on multiple occasions with the repeated flooding across the region.”

“The BlazeAid guys and girls have also helped out on community projects when it has been too wet to get on farm. The support given by BlazeAid particularly in the mental health space can also not be understated. It is so reassuring to flood impacted primary producers to see the support coming down the road and know they are not alone.

“Council cannot thank BlazeAid volunteers enough for their tireless efforts over the past 8 months.

“The commitment that BlazeAid has shown is absolutely remarkable and on behalf of the South Burnett we say a big thank you in appreciation of all that you have done for our region.”
