Local Recovery & Resilience Grant (DRFA)

Back

South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to announce that they have received approval for Local Recovery and Resilience Grant Funding capped at $1million.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority has issued the funding approval under Category D, Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) in response to the South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding 22-28 February 2022.

This grant initiative has been provided to 23 Queensland Councils that have been severely impacted by the extraordinary flooding events to undertake relief, recovery, and resilience activities.

Council welcomes this funding and in response would like to understand where the recovery is most needed within the South Burnett.

The impact of repeated flooding on the back of extended drought has taken a toll on the community. Our community is resilient; however, the financial, physical, and mental health impacts of these events cannot be underestimated.

This funding will support recovery activities providing community wellbeing initiatives, building disaster resilience, and reducing the impact of future events.

Given the repeated rain and associated flood events impacting our rural communities, a large focus will be on primary producers.

A needs assessment is currently taking place, with a community survey (Shaping our region to become more resilient) released to assist, identify, and drive future projects.
