Get Ready Queensland Week 2022
Get Ready Queensland Week 2022 will be held from 10th to 16th October 2022.
The week is a call to action for all Queenslanders to prepare their homes and communities and get ready for the 2022/23 severe weather season.
We have a beautiful and diverse state, but we are also home to the most natural disasters in the country. In 2022, our region was impacted by extreme weather events 4 times. Now, the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a La Nina weather pattern for the third year in a row, bringing wetter than average conditions again to Queensland.
Research shows that well over half of all Queenslanders are already getting ready this year – so make sure you and your household are too.
During Get Ready Week, Council will be providing many resources, links, and videos for your family to build resilience to ensure you are well equipped to deal with the extreme weather and natural disasters which are part of our State.
Some Queenslanders say they are happy to wait until extreme weather is predicted before taking action, but we know it is only a matter of time… and getting ready early means you and your family won’t get caught out.
Experience shows that communities that are well prepared and supported before a disaster occurs are more resilient and able to recover faster. Plus, if we all do our little bit, we take pressure off emergency services, who can instead focus on saving lives.
So please join our team next week by following Council’s facebook page for resources and tools for you and your family to be prepared this season.
We acknowledge Queensland Reconstruction Authority and Get Ready Queensland for this year’s annual campaign.
