Kumbia Streetscape Update
The South Burnett Regional Council continues works on the Kumbia Streetscape Upgrade Project
works to date include the removal of existing damaged sections of kerb and channel along with street trees. Staff are constructing new sections of kerb and channel, reinstating adjacent sealed pavement.
“Mains replacement began last week and is anticipated to conclude in March 2023, with work recommencing in February 2023,” said CEO Mark Pitt.
Council is mindful that the Kumbia community would want the site to be presentable during the Christmas closedown and Christmas events. Council will therefore be staging the remaining works to minimise Christmas impacts and ensure there are minimal open excavations or barricades in place during this period.
“The engagement of contract concreters has been difficult due to high demand with contractors unavailable until 2023. There has also been a minor delay with the water main replacement as well as procurement of some materials.”
New seats, the shelter structure, street trees and plants have been or are currently being procured.
Council will continue to provide regular information updates for the community and apologies for any inconveniences due to the works.
