South Burnett Regional Council Welcomes New Citizens During Harmony Week

Back

In the spirit of the message of Harmony Week everyone belongs, Council welcomed six new Australian citizens during a special citizenship ceremony at Kingaroy Warren Truss Chambers.

Our new citizens are from two countries, being the Philippines and Pakistan and will join many other Australians who are celebrating their citizenship.

Our new citizens will contribute their skills and cultural diversity to our local community, and enrich it through their hard work and participation in public life.

We are part of a diverse multicultural nation, and it is our Australian citizenship, whether by birth or choice, and our Australian values that forms the common bond that unites us. We have different backgrounds, different experiences, and different cultures.

Harmony Week includes the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March. Australians are encouraged to wear orange during Harmony Week. To learn more about other ways to get involved visit www.harmony.gov.au.

For more information about Australian citizenship (including eligibility criteria and application process) and our shared values, visit www.citizenship.gov.au.
