School Transport Infrastructure Program Funding Announcement

South Burnett Regional Council is pleased to announce that Council has been successful in gaining funding for the School Transport Infrastructure Program (STIP) funding applications.

For works to improve services and safety around South Burnett Schools as listed below.

In total there are six projects costing in total over $1.2 million dollars to be delivered in 2023/24.  Council would like to take this opportunity to thank Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) for their co-contribution to these projects.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Murgon State School Upgrade both crossings toa combined children’s crossing and pedestrian crossing including line marking, signage, furniture and concrete median protection.
St Mary’s Catholic College, Kingaroy Footpath along east side of Kent Street connecting Albert Street and Fitzroy Street including an upgrade to the Carinya Street pedestrian crossing.
Kingaroy State High School and Kingaroy State School bus interchange Installation and extension of concrete medians between all bus parking bays to ensure protected pedestrian access. Changes to line marking and signage may also be undertaken to improve the order of operation for buses and parent drop off.
Murgon State High School road widening New sealed, formalised on street parking on the west side of Gore Street between Harm Street and Cooper Street. This includes the installation of drainage infrastructure and line marking to support the safe use of the area.
Murgon State High School and Murgon State School Replacement of existing bitumen footpath with new concrete footpath from Krebs Street to the Pool entrance, adjacent to the School Crossing
Kingaroy State High School (carparking and crossing) Upgraded pedestrian crossings at the William/ Toomey Street intersection, drainage improvements in the cul-de-sac in Avoca St and modifications to the bus zone allowing for additional carparking bays to be accessed on Avoca Street.

Council looks forward to continuing to work with DTMR and associated schools to improve safety in the community.
