Priority outcomes for Council’s Commercial Enterprises and Cemeteries

Back

Mark Pitt, CEO of South Burnett Regional Council today released details of the achievements of the last three years looking at Council’s commercial enterprises, and cemeteries.

“The area of commercial enterprises is one that allows us to invest in projects that would be otherwise beyond our reach, and cemeteries are places of great importance to members of the community,” he said.

Council recognises the importance of well cared for cemeteries, and the installation of new Columbarium walls for the safekeeping of ashes, is a priority outcome for council.

Council has also seen the installation of the Aerodrome animal exclusion fence in both Wondai and Kingaroy, while the dams have also received interest and Improvements to the facility and customer experience including the engagement of new managers focused on customer service and facility improvements, the addition of power and water connection at BP Dam and Boondooma for camping sites, a new playground at the Boondooma dam site and relocation of the bunkhouse to main area of Boondooma. All of these additions and upgrades ensure that we keep visitors in the parks with the aim of covering the costs long term. The Saleyards have also been the recipients of upgrades with the installation of troughs.

Parks have also seen some upgrades with the erection of the Big Peanut at Lions Park in Kingaroy and the upgraded Butter Factory Park in Nanango with the all-inclusive playground equipment.

Mr Pitt added, “South Burnett Regional Council has been working to ensure the quality of life of the residents is key to any upgrades, or to build the facility for locals to improve their life or work, and each of these key projects does just that.”

“Council is committed to utilising the funds available to ensure that we make the area welcoming for all, meet the needs of our residents and yet don’t lose the small-town atmosphere that people here enjoy,” Mr Pitt said.
