Council implements a Road Maintenance Management System
Mark Pitt, CEO of South Burnett Regional Council today released details of the achievements of the last three years focusing on the array of Works Department outcomes.
“The Works Department is responsible for the regular maintenance of roads in the region, among many other core tasks for Council” he said.
A large part of their task is the planning of maintenance for roads and to this end the department has worked on the implementation of a Road Maintenance Management system ustilising contemporary defect management software and has undertaken the development of a prioritised asset renewal program incorporating bitumen resealing, gravel resheeting, footpaths, kerb and channel, pavement rehabilitation, and drainage structures. This task has been a mammoth project but should assist in the prioritisation of tasks for the benefit of the community.
Mr Pitt added, “Understanding the state of our roads, preparing and planning for the future and using contemporary data management software allows us to track the life and renewal cycle of roads, footpaths and infrastructure which impacts all our residents.”
"Our staff are always looking for ways to improve what they do, and it is with this in mind that sectors of our organisation are seeking to improve their service, while minimising impact on the community and deliver all this within budget parameters,” Mr Pitt said.
