Water and Wastewater outcomes to ensure the ongoing liveability of the South Burnett Region
Mark Pitt, CEO of South Burnett Regional Council today released details of the achievements of the last three years focusing on the array of water and wastewater outcomes.
“The South Burnett is an area of natural beauty, but ensuring the health and wellbeing of our locals, and ensuring the security of water in an area that can be naturally dry is a challenge. The staff members working in the Water and Wastewater sections are amongst some of the most skilled in Queensland,” he said.
Understanding the needs of the future of the South Burnett has seen the need for a detailed water study which is now in train. Further the staff have completed an asset management plan, ensuring that all equipment is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the staff. They have also completed the 30 year Forward Works Capital Renewal Program for water and wastewater, ensuring that not only do we know what will be required, but also looking at how these tasks can be funded into the future.
Mr Pitt added, “Water is a finite resource, so making the best use, and protecting what we have for the future is key to ensuring the ongoing liveability of the South Burnett region. By ensuring the processes are right, we can build upon what we already have and improve quality and services going forward.”
“While the business of Council continues, staff are always working on improving services, plans and procedures and its vital that we are aware of the needs of the future,” Mr Pitt said.
