South Burnett Regional Council details positive community outcomes for the region
Mark Pitt, CEO of South Burnett Regional Council today released details of the achievements of the last three years focusing on the array of Community outcomes across the whole region.
“The South Burnett is made up of a region of towns and villages, and it is regularly said that we must cater to all areas. Below, we have highlighted several of the positive outcomes we’ve achieved during the term of this council,” he said.
A number of the halls in the region have received upgrades including: Blackbutt, Mondure and Nanango Cultural Centre and these include improves including air-conditioning, re-roofing and restumping as required.
Swimming pools have also seen the inclusion of solar heating at the Murgon and Wondai pools, new filtration systems, changeroom upgrades, new Wondai splash park and new plant rooms to replace aging infrastructure or ineffective systems. The South Burnett Aquatic Centre at Nanango has also received upgrades to the grandstands and amenities and a new first aid station has been installed.
The SES (State Emergency Service) building at Kingaroy, Murgon, Blackbutt and Wondai have also been upgraded, ensuring those who assist during emergencies and disasters have adequate buildings for training, planning and safe storage of equipment.
Ringsfield House in Nanango has received a new roof, shade sails and benches, ensuring this great asset of council is in the best condition. Wondai Showground Pavilion has also received works necessary for ensuring its fit for purpose.
Mr Pitt added, “While these upgrades and improvements may not appear to be the core business of council, each adds a layer to the lifestyle of those living in the South Burnett Region and are important assets. Ensuring we keep them in the best condition also ensures that when they are needed, they are ready for use, and defrays costs of repairs which are often higher than the cost of maintenance.”
“Our staff continue to find improvements and upgrades for the benefit of our community, and we applaud their efforts to assist in defraying costs by ensuring regular maintenance and auditing of properties continues in a timely and professional manner,” Mr Pitt said.
