Temporary Load Limit on Niagara Road

Back

In accordance with section 69 of the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld)

South Burnett Regional Council advises that Niagara Road between the Bunya Highway and Bilboa will be temporarily closed to vehicles exceeding 24 tonnes (loaded or unloaded) from 5 July 2023. The road will remain open to vehicles weighing less than 24 tonnes.

The load limit is imposed in the interests of public safety due to the condition of certain drainage culverts along the road.

Council will continue to monitor the conditions of the relevant culverts. The culverts will ultimately be replaced or remediated, which is intended to result in the removal of this road limit.

Alternative routes

There are alternate routes available via the Bunya Highway and Kingaroy Jandowae Road.

Property access

Property owners along this section of Niagara Road are encouraged to contact Council if they require access for a vehicle exceeding 24 tonnes.

Council appreciates your cooperation in relation to this temporary measure.

For more information, please contact Council on 4189 9100 or email info@sbrc.qld.gov.au.
