"The year ahead will see Council continue to promote and operate Council owned visitor information centres, museums and art galleries.
The centres are a great point of contact for locals, new residents and visitors to discover more information on local tourism businesses, events and general information on the regions diverse range of industries.” said portfolio Councillor Jane Erkens.
Council continues to encourage residents to consider volunteering at the VIC’s and museums to share their local knowledge with visitors to the region.
Council is currently updating the Discover South Burnett website and ensuring that the information focuses on Council owned and controlled assets with links to the Visit South Burnett website that focuses on promoting the diverse and growing numbers of tourist business in the region.
Council looks forward to negotiating a new agreement with Visit South Burnett for the next 12 months to support their staff and volunteers to continue to thrive and work toward financial sustainability and independence.
Council will continue to operate the Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen Dam Caravan and Recreation Park to create a family friendly holiday option for locals and visitors to the region. Council is offering a 10% discount to locals who book in the non-peak times to encourage residents to explore the facility, the dams and all they have to offer.

- Kingaroy Aerodrome Security Fence and gate $60,000 (50% funded by the Australian Government through the Regional Airport Program)
