Waste and Recyclables Collection Services Tender has been Awarded

South Burnett Regional Council has a formal agreement with its current contractor JJ’s Waste & Recycling for the collection of Waste and Recyclables Services, due to expire on 30 June 2024.
Tenders were invited on 21 March 2023 with submissions closing on 11 May 2023 to replace this arrangement.
At Council’s Ordinary meeting held on 19 July 2023, Council awarded the Waste and Recyclables Collection Services tender to JJ’s Waste & Recycling for a ten (10) year contract period commencing
1 July 2024.
Outcomes from the new Waste and Recyclables Collection Services contract include:
- An overall saving on existing costs of approximately $1.89M over a ten (10) year period for waste and recyclables collections services contract, compared to the current contract costs estimated over the same period.
- Emissions savings for new collection vehicles compared to existing vehicle fleet, and
- A contract arrangement with flexibility to cater for the term, including altering services sizes and frequencies, potential new (Food organic green organic) services, and increased administrative simplicity.
