Kumbia Playground and Sportsground – Have Your Say

Back

South Burnett Regional Council is seeking community input in relation to the future of the playground and recreation facilities in Kumbia.

This will include determining the future direction for the playground at Apex Park on Bell Street, as well as looking at future opportunities for the Kumbia Sportsground on Gordon Street.

Acting Mayor, Cr Gavin Jones said future upgrades to the park and sportsground at Kumbia reflect Council’s commitment to encourage active lifestyles. “We want to encourage children and families to get outside and be active and have fun,” he said.

Cr Jones said the community will have a number of opportunities to have their say.

A community meeting will be held at the Kumbia Community Hall, located at Bell Street, Kumbia starting at 5:30pm on Thursday 24 August 2024.

Community engagement consultants will be available to speak to high school students at the Kumbia bus stop from 7.30am on Tuesday 22 August and Wednesday 23 August.

“We know the park and sportsground are important to the people of Kumbia and we’d like to hear how we can make them better,” Cr Jones said.

“These meetings are the ideal opportunity to put forward ideas on play and recreational spaces for children and young people in Kumbia” he said.

Further community engagement will be undertaken over the coming weeks to ensure residents and community groups of Kumbia have ample opportunity to provide input. This will include meetings with key stakeholders, workshops with primary school children, discussions with high school students, focus group meetings and a community survey.
