Santa’s First Press Release

Back

“Ho Ho Ho! It’s that time again,” says South Burnett Regional Council’s CEO Mark Pitt.

Planning for this year’s Christmas Light competitions is well underway, with the delivery of 6 Santa statues for the Santa’s Workshop trophies, along with the 2023 finger board for the winner of the collaborative Christmas Light competition. As with previous years, to win the fingerboard, the CEO and his wife are looking for the community to work together, to create a display. “The last two years the Grinch in Kingaroy has been the winner, with other previous winners being Proston and Amaroo Drive in Wondai,” said Mr Pitt.  “Remember, to win the prize, you must complete the entry form,” he reminds residents.

This year the Santa’s Workshop is also a focal point, looking for child-centred bright and engaging light displays from local businesses, however you don’t need to be in town to win. “The judges will choose one winner from each division, and to enter you must complete an entry form and nominate your ABN. Community Organisations, Schools and anyone with an active ABN can enter,” Mrs Pitt said. “And in the latest news, individual house displays will also be able to enter, and we look forward to seeing what you can dream up for us!”

Nominations are now open and will close at 4.30pm on Friday 24 November 2023. Entries are available both in paper form from council offices or online Christmas Lights Display – South Burnett Regional Council. Judging will take place from Friday 1 December to Sunday 10 December 2023. All entries will be featured in the South Burnett Santa Claus Lane Christmas Lights Display 2023 map which will be available in South Burnett Today on Thursday 7 December 2023 and Council’s Website.

“We look forward to seeing what entries we receive and brightening the lives of children of the South Burnett,” Mr Pitt added.
