Back

The Acting Mayor of South Burnett Regional Council, Cr Gavin Jones,

today thanked the Queensland Emergency Services for responding to the calls for help and for their ongoing efforts during the recent Bushfire events.

“Crews are working tirelessly on a large number of bushfires across the state, and we are extremely grateful for their commitment and dedication, we urge the public to stay up-to-date with all bushfire warnings issued,” said Acting Mayor Jones.

With the current bushfires it is a timely reminder to think about how extreme weather could impact your life, make a plan to stay safe and pack supplies so you don’t get caught out. For further information visit Get Ready Queensland: Emergency Survival Kit List | Get Ready QLD.

“Ours is a resilient community, and it is during times of hardship that this shines through.”

“I’d also like to thank everyone else who has assisted and is continuing to assist, including neighbours who are helping each other,” said Acting Mayor Jones.

Due to heightened fire conditions, a local fire ban has been extended for the South Burnett region and will remain in place until 23:59 Monday 6 November.

Under a local fire ban all open fires are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fire which have been issued in the designated areas have been suspended for the duration of the ban.
