Council Elects Chair of LDMG
Council, at the Post-Election meeting held on Thursday 4 April 2024, elected Cr Danita Potter as Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and Cr Jane Erkens as Deputy Chair.
Cr Danita Potter advised that it was an honour to be appointed as Chair of the LDMG and that she was looking forward to continuing working with the Local Disaster Management Group and building on our already strong relationships.
“The group is an industrious team who work hard during disaster events to ensure our community is safe. The last 4 years of Council, the community experienced many disaster events including COVID, rain events and fires. Our Local Disaster Management Group ensured communities were kept safe and informed during these times,” said Cr Potter.
“Continuing to build our procedures and processes by ensuring members of the team are well trained and equipped to fulfill the roles they undertake. With Cr Jane Erkens being elected as Deputy Chair of the LDMG, I believe our great working relationship will achieve a good outcome for the South Burnett community.”
“I would also like to mention Council’s Disaster Management team are holding “Community Engagement and Awareness sessions” with our emergency services at three of our local rural fire brigades over the coming two months. We encourage our community to attend one of these sessions to learn how they can be better prepared for disasters,” said Cr Potter.
