Wild Dog and Feral Pig Control Program
South Burnett Regional Council is conducting a coordinated Wild Dog & Feral Pig Control Program. Wild dogs cause livestock losses and kill native fauna.
Feral pigs are key spread vectors for emergency animal diseases such as Foot and Mouth and African Swine Fever. Participation in this coordinated program will assist in suppressing the feral pig population across a more extensive area of our region.
To encourage greater participation, South Burnett Regional Council in partnership with Sunpork, will be providing meat free of charge for landholders that register to participate in the coordinated program.
Baiting stations will be held throughout the South Burnett from Monday 26 August to Friday
30 August 2024. All participants must register their intention to conduct baiting no later than Wednesday 21 August 2024.

Protection of domestic and working dogs
Owners of domestic and working dogs are advised to restrain and or muzzle their dogs during the baiting program to minimise the risk of dogs wandering and coming into contact with poison baits
