Youth Precinct Opening at Kingaroy Memorial Park
South Burnett Regional Council is kicking off the school holidays with the opening of the Youth Precinct at Kingaroy Memorial Park on Saturday 14 December 2024, starting at 3pm.
The Youth Precinct has been funded through the Queensland State Government’s Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games - Minor Infrastructure Program, which provides targeted funding to eligible organisations to help the sport and active recreation industry deliver new, upgraded and end of life infrastructure projects and works. In 2023, South Burnett Regional Council was successful through the program with an allocation of $250,000 grant funds and $600,000 Council funds to build a new basketball court and obstacle course.
The opening will include a social 3 x 3 basketball and a free throw competition hosted by Kingaroy Basketball Association. For those wanting to test their physical abilities there will be an obstacle course challenge hosted by the world’s largest supplier of outdoor fitness courses and playgrounds - Kompan. The new obstacle course is next door to the basketball court. South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Kathy Duff, along with Councillors will be on hand for the ribbon cutting and much more.
Council would like to acknowledge the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games for assisting to deliver this project that will be enjoyed by everyone from the region.
