Change of Speed Limit on Mount Wooroolin Road

Back

South Burnett Regional Council wishes to advise that after undertaking a speed review a decision has been made to reduce the speed limit on Mount Wooroolin Road, Kingaroy.

The existing unsigned 100km/h section has been reviewed and the decision was made to reduce this section back to 60km/h. Below is an image outlining the upcoming changes. The new signage is expected to be erected during the week commencing Monday 16 December 2024, weather permitting.

In undertaking a review of the road and road environment it was deemed that Mount Wooroolin Road has a significant proportion of recreational traffic with walkers and cyclists accessing the Mount Wooroolin Reserve. The following factors were also considered; the connecting road, Haly Street, already has a posted speed of 60km/hr; the road has a single lane seal; and the roadside environment is likely to support a local wildlife population.

The review was undertaken in liaison with representatives from our local emergency services. As a result of this review the decision was made to reduce the speed limit to help protect our more vulnerable road users.

Please drive to the prevailing road conditions and adhere to signage.

For further information regarding the project works, please contact Council’s Infrastructure Department on 4189 9100 or email info@sbrc.qld.gov.au.
