It’s Too Wet to Mow!
This Christmas, Santa might be delivering snorkels and flippers due to the recent weather conditions.
Persistent rainfall has rendered certain areas of the region unsuitable for mowing. Coupled with a few warmer days, this has resulted in overgrown parks and roadside verges.
Please note that additional rain is forecasted for the coming weeks, which may cause further delays in maintenance.
Council’s Park crews have an area of 8,400 square kilometres to mow and maintain. That’s over 59 parks within the region and all road verges within the 60km/h speed limit and grassed road islands. Along with maintaining and mowing, 43km of rail trail.
Council appreciates the community's understanding during this wet period and assures you that our Parks crews are diligently working to address the mowing backlog as soon as conditions permit.
While our green spaces may currently appear somewhat unkempt, this situation is only temporary. Rest assured, our parks and verges will soon return to their usual well-maintained state.
