Following requests from residents seeking sandbags to prepare for potential storm events, Mayor Kathy Duff and Councillors will be working with the SES this Saturday,
11 January 2025, to fill sandbags for residents. Councillors will be filling sandbags between 8.00am and 12 noon at the Kingaroy SES Depot, located at 5 Glendon Street.
Mayor Duff said, “I am pleased to see that residents are taking steps to be disaster ready and planning ahead.”
The community are welcome to come along and pick up sandbags or delivery may be available if prearranged. Enquiries can be made directly to Mayor Duff by phone 0437 020 705 or email kathy.duff@sbrc.qld.gov.au.
Mayor Duff hopes to leave about 100 extra sandbags for the SES to reserve for future events.
Mayor Duff said “I am grateful to have my fellow Councillors and volunteers already stepping up to provide assistance. The SES do an amazing job in our community, and they work tirelessly particularly in disasters to keep the community safe.”
