South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group LDMG
The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) today met for their quarterly meeting.
During the meeting, discussions were held relating to the current TC Alfred predictions and preparations for our region. Our status will remain at Alert over the coming days.
At this stage, the modelling is favourable for the South Burnett and we are hoping to receive minimal impact as the system tracks its way towards the southern end of Queensland.
Chair of the LDMG, Cr Danita Potter said “Our Local Disaster Management Group and Council have been doing preparation work in case the system does move back to the north west once it makes landfall. We may see increased rain, therefore we are still sharing the same message, be prepared but not alarmed and continue to follow the Bureau”.
The LDMG will continue to work with partner agencies including the Bureau and Queensland Police to provide updates to the community as required. We will monitor the conditions and cyclone track maps over the coming days.
South Burnett residents are advised:
- In a life threatening emergency, call Triple Zero 000
- For sandbagging / leaking roofs / roof damage, download the “SES Assistance QLD” app available on Android and Apple devices if phone lines are busy or call 132 500.
