Land Valuations for the South Burnett
On Thursday 27 March 2025 the Queensland Valuer-General released land valuations for 17,546 properties within the South Burnett Regional Council area.
These valuations have resulted in an increase in the average value of residential and rural land in the South Burnett.
The Queensland Valuer General advises Council when a new valuation is required to be completed, which is generally every 3 years.
Land is valued using the unimproved value or site value methodology. This methodology is determined by the zoning of the land under the Queensland planning provisions or the equivalent local government planning scheme.
A factsheet is available for all landowners, which provides information about land valuations and the possible impact on your rates. You can view the factsheet here.
As the valuers are independent of Council, we would like to encourage landowners who are concerned about the possible increase in their valuations to contact the State Valuation Service on 1300 664 217 or information is available here.
Objections to land valuations can be lodged online or by downloading and completing the hardcopy form, available here
Council uses a variety of tools to help reduce the effect changes in land valuation has on yearly rates levies including the use of 3 year averaging as well as adjusting the rate in the dollar during the budget process.
