Local Government Workcover

The Local Government Workcover has provided Council with an updated status report that highlights SBRC’s ranking within the 67 Local Authorities participating in the scheme.  Council’s current rank is 15h of the 67.  The report also indicated that Council is ranked 5th of 15 Councils which are grouped based on our annual wage cost.  The better the rank the lower cost of the premiums.  The premium for the highest in our group would be over $200,000 more each year.  I commend the HR team for the strategies and work undertaken within the organisation which culminates in a reduction of the workcover premiums but more importantly in striving to reduce workplace incidents. Well done to the staff too for following safe work practices to keep themselves, their co-workers and all workplaces safe.

SBRC has participated in the LGM (Local Government Mutual Liability) Audits over the past ten (10) years.  Some $57,000 has been paid to Council as rebates in that period of time. LGM have indicated that Council will receive another 2% rebate for 2017-2018.

Christmas Closedown for 2017/2018

It is proposed to close Council’s administration offices, depots and library facilities on the 22nd of December from 11:00 am to allow Council employees to attend the annual staff Christmas function.

Council offices, libraries and customer service centres are proposed to be closed from midday 22nd of December 2017 and re-open on the 2nd of January 2018.  The Visitor Information Centres will operate over the Christmas/New Year period from Monday to Saturday with some centres operating reduced hours on Sunday.  The VICs will be closed on Christmas Day, Saturday Boxing Day, Boxing Public Holiday and New Year’s Day

Key skeleton staff will be rostered to undertake on-call and emergency work where required during the closedown period.
