On Saturday 20 May 2017, 350 guests filled the Kingaroy Town Hall to support the Kingaroy Supa IGA Mayor's Charity Ball.

The evening was hosted by Mayor Keith Campbell to raise much needed funds for the South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation to purchase new equipment for the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital in Kingaroy.

The night showcased the South Burnett Regional Flavours and finest wines from our beautiful region.  The Hall was filled with laughter when renowned ventriloquist Darren Carr hit the stage followed by the band 'Honey', who got the guests showing off their dance moves.

'What a spectacular evening', said Mayor Keith Campbell. 'Words cannot describe how appreciative I am of the overwhelming support from our great sponsors and the community to ensuring the future of the community hospital".

There were 10 auction items at the hands of John Allery and his team from Raine & Horne Kingaroy. These items included signed jerseys, juke box, garage door, television, keyboard and a whole beast butchered to the successful bidders desire.

Over 30 business houses from around the South Burnett generously donated items toward  14 separate raffles, with each raffle valued up to $600! On top of these items, Sunshine Mitre 10 put together a trailer package valued over $4,000.

"Not everyone can attend the ball and I wanted to make sure everyone could play a part in raising funds for this worthy cause. A separate special raffle was created and tickets were sold before the ball, with the winners being drawn on the night", said Mayor Campbell.

This raffle consisted of:

  • First Prize - Fully galvanised tilt trailer filled with various items - won by Mark Long.
  • Second Prize - Husqvarna LC18 Push Mower  - won by Margaret Jackwitz
  • Third Prize - 2 nights accommodation in a 2 bedroom Dandabah Getaway Unit for up to 4 people at the Bunya Mountains  -  won by Anna Patroni
  • Fourth Prize - Body Shop Hamper - won by Kirstie Schumacher

Congratulation to all winners.

“I set a goal in early January to raise $50,000 and I have the greatest pleasure to announce that we were only shy of this amount, reaching approximately $49,000.  The support has been tremendous and there are so many that need to be thanked.”

Thank you to acoustic duo 'Tucker and Chop' along with vocalist Eri Carey for providing the forecourt entertainment, Mr Eric Law for the Welcome to Country, Forecourt MC  Mr Simon Neal, Hall MC Mr John Carey, Matt Phillips and the Kingaroy State High School Jazz Band, John & Jackie Allery and the Raine & Horne team for conducting the auction, our generous sponsors and everyone who supported the event.

As like any event, it would not be possible without the support of our hardworking volunteers.  A special thanks goes out the Rotary Club of Kingaroy, Kingaroy TAFE students and the lovely ladies of the Red Earth Leadership Program, who worked tirelessly all evening.

Together we have made a difference!
