Public Consultation Renaming of Brooklands Pimpimbudgee South Road, Maidenwell

As part of Council’s commitment to understanding our community’s concerns and aspirations, we invite all community members to submit feedback regarding the proposed renaming of Brooklands Pimpimbudgee South Road, Maidenwell to Beare Road, Maidenwell.

The Beare Family were pioneers of the area having purchased land adjoining the road 100 years ago. The have had a long association with the district and a direct descendant of the family still resides on the property. David Beare, the only son of Charles Beare, lived all of his life on the family farm, including running a poll Hereford stud there for many years. He was a well-liked and respected personality who involved himself significantly in the community. He frequently drove along the road visiting neighbours and was a vital part of the local grapevine. Davey was a real character, memorable to everyone who met him. Tragically, he drowned at a creek crossing during a flash flood in February 1992.

Below is a map outlining the proposed section of road to be renamed from Brooklands Pimpimbudgee South Road to Beare Road, Maidenwell.

People who have made a submission as part of Council’s previous consultation do not have to resubmit, unless they wish to provide further feedback.
