UPDATE - Lamb Street Murgon-CBD Footpath, Kerb and Channel Replacement

Back

As part of South Burnett Regional Council’s 2020 works program, the replacement of Murgon’s CBD footpath along Lamb Street between Krebs Street and Gore Street is in the initial stages of demolition.

Detailed planning has preceded works in order to ensure all business can remain operational during the construction.

The majority of works are scheduled to be delivered at night between 6pm-6am, with additional supporting tasks being undertaken during standard working hours as required.

Current works have been heavily constrained by recent storms with wet weather preventing planned works and causing additional repairs. The updated schedule has been amended to start demolition of the next section between the Dog Wash and the Bakery starting the mid next week.

Details of activities planned for weeks commencing Sunday 1 March 2020 and Sunday 8 March 2020 are outlined below, weather permitting:

Week commencing Sunday 1 March 2020

A new demolition work zone will be set up between the Dog Wash and the Bakery on Tuesday as highlighted by yellow, refer image 1. These works will detour pedestrians around the works zones and utilise the custom pedestrian ramps for shop access.

Finishing works and fencing removal from stage one to occur at the intersection of Krebs and Lamb Street is scheduled to be removed by 6:00pm Wednesday, however this is heavily subject to weather conditions.

As usual, the majority of works will finish Friday morning allowing for weekend activities. These works will result in the partial closure of the service lane and parking areas directly adjacent to the work zones. Works occurring during standard working hours will include sign replacements, surveying, formwork and communication infrastructure relocation.

Week commencing Sunday 8 March 2020

Demolition Earthworks in the Bakery region will be close to completion at the start of this week allowing for the Kerb and Channel to be installed. Demolition and Earthworks will then commence in a new section, being the lower stage highlighted in red, - refer image 2. Shops in this region include those between Encore Pilates, through to Advice Partners.

Concreting works will complete the preparation works for the new pavement adjacent to the Bakery, on Friday morning therefore allowing for an early morning pour the following week.

In conclusion, local contractors have put in a huge effort this week; however, unfortunately the weather conditions have ultimately delayed progress. At this time it is possible that additional progress could occur within the schedule with no significant rain forecasted.
